There was good news and bad news.

Good news first: The apartment I want in Southwest DC is available. It's mine if I want it.

I haven't seen it, but I know the important things. There are three metro stops within walking distance and one of them is on the line that's most efficient to my office (and the other two are on the line that's not, so I can get to work either way). I'm within walking distance of a park to walk the dog (and the park leads to the Tidal Basin with the Jefferson Memorial and the Cherry Trees). If I don't mind a long walk, I can get to the Mall (For those of you not from DC, that's the greensward in the center of town which includes the FDR Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, and ten of the Smithsonian Museums.). The complex has a doorman. The apartment is on the third floor which means it's high enough not to be easily burgled, but won't trip my fear of heights. It's a relatively large one bedroom.

The internet is truly marvelous for moving.

Bad news: Rather than being available next week, the tenants have chosen to move out at the end of the month. This means it won't be available until March 7.

Watch Fabi do the dance of "where the fuck am I living for three weeks?"

One of my friends has been living in his car for the past seven months (and will continue to live in his car until May) so he can save more money to go to Europe and live in Italy for six months. I don't think you'd want to live in your car, though. I mean, my friend loves it, but he's always been a bit of a nomad.

At least you get an ideal location... eventually!

Not to mention, I don't own a car. *G*

I'll find something. But it's a little scary.

If you don't hear from me/us soon, bug us. We know someone who lives there, and there's a chance...

Regardless, best of luck! (and may Mercury go forward again soon, dammit!)

Thank you.

As it happens, another (nearly identical) apartment is now free.

Let the joy be unconfined. *G*

A hotel room by yourself wouldn't be bad (unlike, say, living in one hotel room with a husband and two children *G*), but it would be expensive. I'm unsure of other options.

OTOH, the apartment sounds awesome.

Also, I have to ask: You have a dog? Have I just forgotten? Or did I miss something?

And I agree with you that the internet is awesome for moving. Our last move was made so much easier by being able to scope out things online first.

I am inheriting Oliver from my parents. Mom threatened to have him put down because he barks at the mailman. Training, with the rest of the family, has stopped his biting issue, and he's now muzzle trained (I intend to leave the muzzle off for the post 10 p.m. walk -- anyone coming at me on the street at that time of night is probably not a "friend.") I couldn't see letting a healthy three year old dog be put down. Besides, he listens to me and loves me.

I already know which Curves I want to join and where the yoga studio with the classes closest to the ones I took in California are. I LOVE the internet for moving!

Oh, that's right. I do remember your mentioning Oliver before.

I already know which Curves I want to join

That's one of the cool things about Curves. :-)

The flat sounds very nice. Good location, so close to the nice things. I hope you find something to bridge the gap.
