Synonyms

This started my train of thought and connected to something that I noticed months ago: fandom cliches. For instance in one fandom that I've explored, female genitalia is usually described by the word "twat." This is a word that I just loathe. It took reading several stories in that fandom to realize that the authors weren't meaning it as an insult. In the same fandom, the mail ejaculate was virtually always referred to as "jism," and the act of orgasm was "jizzing." Neither phrase is appealing.

So. I want synonyms. Words that I might not think to use because Smallville has its own cliches for the various parts.

Points for originality will be given.

Ah, but a challenge for the best (worst) euphamism, or a challenge to see how it can be suitaably written in to a story?

I'm good thanks dearie. Uni's a blast, and Christmas was actually bearable. I have a rotten throat infection at the moment though. How are things going with you and yours?

To see how many can be incorporated into a story. And considering the two examples in this thread, we may have to redefine "Purple Prose."

I'm not thrilled about any of the words for women. My occasional collaborator has referred to "complicated folds of womanhood," but that has it's own issues. *g*

Yeah, I can never think of a good word for female genitalia either. That's why I keep avoiding writing Chloe/Lana sex. :) When I was at BAScon, we had a conversation about language in femslash, and couldn't come to any conclusions either.
