Just catching up.

I spent a surprisingly pleasant afternoon with my mother at the Getty on Saturday. She enjoyed the exhibit, didn't make any racist remarks until we were in the car (mostly noting that the only English she heard was from me), and just generally liking the art.
It was nice.
On the way home, we stopped and got ingredients for me to make my New Year's Eve cassoulet. I cut the recipe in half and we still had enough for everyone to have seconds the first night and full meal on New Year's Day.
We're demolishing the kitchen in order to have a sensible one built. The current kitchen (or should I say late kitchen as the demolition progressed quite quickly) is dark and poorly laid out. Those are its good points.
I got some writing done. Nothing's finished, though.

Yay for writing, too!
