I don't know whether today has been productive or not. I'd planned to get up and take my resume to several different places, but I also wanted to put in a phone call to a particular travel agency. They have four branches throughout Oregon, and they cater to people who don't want organized tours. It's the type of place where you can go in and say, "I like opera and can only take my vacation in July," and they'll get you tickets for Glyndebourne, the Avignon theater festival, and/or one of the Austrian fests.

It's something that I think I could do well. I know, for instance, the best restaurants in Bonn and Wiesbaden. I can tell you what's in season during any given month and make certain that you know how to tell good lace from bad.

So I made the call. It took the person several hours to call me back (I have no way of picking up messages), and in the meantime, I applied for half a dozen office jobs (three of them part-time, but all for at least four days a week at a reasonable rate). It turns out she wasn't the right person to speak to, but she gave me the name and direct line of the person who was.

If you're on the West coast and know of travel agencies that specialize in this kind of vacation travel, please let me know their names and locations. I want to stay out west. I know I can learn the computer system. And, if the perks are free or less expensive travel, it's a job that I'd really love.

However, it does mean that I didn't do what I set out to do.

Advice and thoughts welcomed.

ZenDada Koans welcomed.

Any direction that involves employment would be a good one. But yes, so much better if it's employment I could love.

Hugs.
