I'm beginning to take these London bombings personally. I lived (admittedly 20 years ago) about two blocks from that Shepherd's Bush station (as opposed to the Shepherd's Bush station for the Central Line). I was at the Oval less than two years ago (they keep showing the end of a good friend's street in the flyover shots). And I used Warren Street Station nearly everyday for a year.
I know it sounds flippant. It's not meant to. But while I knew the areas pretty well for the last set of London bombings, they weren't places I'd lived or went to daily. These are. It's my home they're trying to blow up.
I'm getting really tired of US coverage, too. Some idiot on MSNBC said something to the effect of "how could they let this happen so quickly?" Take a look at a London Tube Map. It looks like an accident in a yarn factory. Nearly an eighth of the city's population takes public transport. Nothing short of
jerminating's suggestion of requiring nudity for boarding the trains is going to prevent every possible bomb.
