Sis is Great

I'm not coping well with the move. I've known it was coming, but it still feels sudden. I love the new house. I think it will be really great when my area is completed -- which can't happen until after this house sells.

But I'm not coping well. Sis is letting me go down to Jeckyll Island for four days, stopping to drop the dogs at their boarding space on the way. She's taking care of the hard stuff, but just going through and putting post-its on furniture indicating whether it stays (consignment or Goodwill) or which room it goes to in the new place has me feeling horrible.

Now, the bronchitis and the antibiotics are also contributing factors, I'm sure, but -- I think of myself as strong, usually -- and right now I'm barely treading water.

This is not just a move - you uprooted your life to come take care of your mother, then you had a bereavement, and now you are having to close out her household and let go of furniture with memories attached, while you're convalescent ... and the moving is on top of that.

You're barely treading water because it's a heavy load.

That's good context for me. When I get emotionally labile, it's difficult to remember contexts. I appreciate it more than I can say.

What Kath said - this is more than "just a move". And even "just a move", even one for generally pleasant reasons like the one we've just been though, is hard. Your situation is infinitely harder, and you're sick. I'm glad your sis recognizes that and is willing and able to help you!

She really is being lovely about it. Thank you for mentioning that moves are hard in general. They are. And I'm glad we're doing this one.
