According to wikipedia, the U.S. lost 440,000 military personnel in WW2. For the U.S., that's the stat for just over 3 years of fighting a worldwide war. This doesn't count civilians or our Allies losses.

The New York Times just reported that at the current daily death rate, 450K -- 10K more than WW2 -- will have died of the virus in the United States by the one year mark.

Will have by when? The excess-deaths count reached 300,000 around the end of October, but I've only seen counts-to-date, not projections.
