Dear Yulegoat --

I really have been a good girl this year. For the most part. Really.

So, dear author, I'm fine with any rating unless otherwise specified. I don't imagine that two of these would lend themselves to Explicit for various reasons, but I know how imaginative authors can get.

General nos: Extreme or explicit violence. Rape or Dubcon. A/B/O. AUs unless requested. There are certain acts which just don't turn me on: scat, blood play, golden showers. All BDSM must be safe, sane, and consensual.

General yeses: Exploration of emotions and the consequences of actions, even if those consequences are negative. I'm fine with explicit slash, het, or threesomes (or moresomes). I like a happy ending -- it's Yuletide; let's celebrate -- but I completely understand if it doesn't make sense within the story. A well-written fic with a sad resolution is better than something jammed in to make it happy.

Here are my three approved fandoms. I’ve added my others after reviewing the full tag set. :-)

The Man from Earth -- Occasionally, I just bumble around Netflix or Prime and stumble upon a movie or series that I would never have sought out but is absolutely up my alley. The Man from Earth was one of those movies. [enough of the reviews on the sequel have led me to believe that I wouldn’t like it and might find the original diminished, so please don’t use it for reference.] The movie is still available on Amazon Prime with no further fee involved.

John Oldman gets his day in the film. While I would love to have interactions with him, I’m primarily interested in three of his friends: Dan, Edith, and Harry – in that order.

Dan was fascinated and open-minded. Of the three, he’s the one I think most likely to seek out John and pursue things further. But there’s also the ruminations about time and the implications of John’s story, so I’d love to read more about that whether in his own head, with John, or with the other two in my request. (If you throw in Art, I won’t be upset, but he doesn’t get to replace one of the ones I like.)

Edith was frightened. Does she overcome it? Does it reinforce her faith, or does she lose it? Does she seek out John to find out more, seek out the others? Where might her story end?

Harry was the most flippant of the three. I never got a good grasp on where he came down on the central problem. Would he approach Dan to talk about it more? Edith? John himself? Is he willing to just “live and let live” as he describes religion in his family, or does this conversation awaken something in him – religious, scientific, or philosophical? Mature rating at highest.

The Victorian Way -- Everything should be available on YouTube via the English Heritage channel.

I love to cook, but I have been away from it for a while for various reasons. That doesn’t mean I don’t pursue recipes online. As someone who used to redact recipes from Norman times to the 19th century, it was probably inevitable that I’d one day stumble across Her Greatness, Avis Crocombe.

Most of the videos featuring Mrs. Crocombe are short and deal with recipes. She’ll tell us whether the dish is good enough to be served on a fancy occasion, just to the family, or to either (or both) the upper or lower servants’ halls. Her domain is the kitchen of Audley End House. The family are the Braybrooke’s (from the titles she uses, he is probably the Earl of Braybrooke, or Braybrooke is the family name, and he is the Earl for another demesne). We hear tell of other servants, but rarely do we meet them.

Mary Ann is Mrs. Crocombe’s main scullery maid. She’s learning the rest of the work, but still does most of the basics, especially for big meals. We have met Mrs. Warwick the Housekeeper when she was interviewing us for a position as laundress in the household. From the way she interacted with Mrs. Crocombe, they seem to be on about the same level in the servant’s hierarchy and they may not always agree with each other politically. Thomas is the third gardener. His first major task after being hired was selecting the right apples for a dish Mrs. Crocombe was preparing. We briefly met his boss, too.

I don’t care how you decide to handle it, but I want Mrs. Crocombe in her element. Perhaps there’s a summer fete being held on the grounds of Audley End House. Perhaps another aristocratic family will be paying a visit (no royalty, please, too much like Downton Abbey) or there’s a big house party. Maybe it’s preparation for Christmas or organizing the kitchens while the masters are elsewhere. I just want Mrs. Crocombe being herself, cooking wonderful dishes – with help from her team, and making certain everything is comme il faut. Thomas having a sweet side romance with Mary Ann or the butter maid would be fine if it doesn’t take over the story. Teen rating at highest on this.

Heat of the Sun seems to be currently available at Amazon Prime. There are only three episodes.

Albert Tyburn is basically a good man and a good detective. His choice to kill a man who couldn’t be brought to justice has put him in Kenya, probably for the rest of his life. I love his relationships with his sergeant (James Valentine, played with natural aristocracy and wit) and his native constable (Jonah Karinde). I find his romance with Emma Fitzgerald sweet, and I love that she’s a woman earning her own living in the place she was born.

I want a case. If it happens at the club, if Chico de Ville gets involved with Tyburn’s team, if it exposes some of the hypocrisy of British Rule, that’s all to the good. None of those are required. I just want a case which explores the setting and the time period. Glamorous or out in the bush makes no difference to me, if Tyburn and his team are ticking over like the well-oiled machine they are. Any rating works.

Ladyhawke -- I was so sorry to hear of Rutger Hauer's death. As much as I love many of his performances (if you haven't seen Soldier of Orange, preferably in Dutch with subtitles, you absolutely should.), Ladyhawke is the one I love most. I want more of Navarre, maybe his job interview with the Bishop? His first meeting with Isabeau? Confession with Imperius? Any rating for this one.

Dracula (Movies--Hammer) -- I literally just saw this for the first time yesterday (November 3). I definitely have a quiet crush on Christopher Lee's Dracula. In the "General Nos" above, I said I didn't want Dub!Con, but vampires, at least good vampires, are a bit of an exception to that for me.

I found that Dracula's attack on Mina was very seductive. We don't see anything of the first time, but Mina's smile when she comes home is satisfied. Her surrender the second time and his treatment of her before the bite was quite erotic.

While their names weren't on the character sets, if you want to give me Jonathan Harker's turning and/or Lucy Holmwood's, I would not be averse. The key one though is the very adult seeming relationship between Dracula and Mina.

Give me what happens after they cut away from the sexy bits. Christopher Lee's voice is gorgeous, so aural sensations as well as tactile and visual would be appreciated. Humor is fine as long as it doesn't take over. Higher ratings are better for this one.

Thank you so much for writing me a story. I can’t wait to read it.
