Dear Yule Goat -- I've been a good girl and posted lots of stories.

In general, I'm thrilled that you're writing for me and I'm thrilled to be taking part in another Yuletide.

I've put any fandom specific limitations in the prompts, but there are some things I just really love or hate.

General nos: Extreme violence. Rape or Dubcon. A/B/O. AUs unless requested. There are certain acts which just don't turn me on: scat, blood play, golden showers.

All BDSM must be safe, sane, and consensual.

General yeses: Exploration of emotions and the consequences of actions, even if those consequences are negative. I'm fine with explicit slash, het, or threesomes (or moresomes). I like a happy ending, but completely understand if it doesn't make sense with the story. A well-written fic with a sad ending is better than something jammed in to make it happy.

The fandoms are:
Easy Virtue (2008)
Hellspark! by Janet Kagan
Undercover Blues
VR.5
The Illusionist

Easy Virtue (2008) - available on Netflix streaming, rentable at Amazon
I don't want a story that doesn't have Larita in it in some capacity, even if just as a catalyst.

Apparently their actors disagree as to whether Larita and Jim will remain platonic or become lovers. I could see it going either way, so give me your ideas all fleshed out with period clothing and music. This is one that I don't mind going explicit, if you decide that they'll be lovers. (That tango! Whew!)

During the film what does Jim think of Larita and his son's relationship? Does she remind him of his squalid adventures or is she a breath of fresh air or something in between?

Veronica breaks my heart in some ways. Contrasting her view of her son's relationship with Larita and her post war search for Jim could be interesting, especially since she found him smoking opium in a brothel.

Furber delights my little socialist heart. His willingness to help Larita, his sardonic take on the rest of the family, his sheer snark make me love him. A story from his point of view, possibly noticing that Jim and Larita seem more suited to each other than John and Larita do, would be delightful, I think. Perhaps Furber's next move is to become Larita's and Jim's factotum. If so, how does he find them and how does he fit in with their household.

The movie is from Larita's point of view, but she's good at putting up the front she wants seen. Something going into her mind more deeply, maybe beginning with her winning the Grand Prix de Monte Carlo, would also be an interesting story.

My last possibility is a few years down the line, after the Great Depression has hit. Which group is more successful, the land based Whittackers or the skills based team of Larita and Jim? Does one group help the other in a fit of familial good will and mutual support? If so, how does that work out?

If you care to throw in Philip Hurst or his father Pinky and sister Sarah, I'd be thrilled.

Hellspark! by Janet Kagan -- (Any rating EXCEPT explicit)
I want a post-book story about Tocohl as a Byworld Judge. If Om im has already joined her as a judge's aide, all the better. If it involves Buntec, Edge-of-Dark, Tinling Alfvaen, or even "Old Rattlebrain," that's all to the good. I loved the festival of Saint Veshke -- and it's implied that there's always a need for Byworld Judges there -- but I could also see another story set on Flashfever dealing with the sprookjes and their off-world trading.

Undercover Blues (1993) - unsure where available other than disc
I still find this to be one of the funnier movies of the 1990s. I love the idea of a pair who are hypercompetent, but, and this is important, not at everything. Their skills are complementary, with Jeff being a terrible shot and Jane being better behind the scenes than out in front. Together they're amazing, not to mention charming.

So story ideas... Jane and Jeff meet? Jane and Jeff go on exotic adventures before marriage or as an extended honeymoon? Jane and Jeff take Jane-Louise (and Muerte?) to Cuba (in other words, just follow along from the end of the movie). What is the movie like from Muerte's point of view? Jane-Louise is in her mid-twenties now. What was life like with her hypercompetent parents? Did she do well at university? What are her competencies? For whom does she work and did her parents help her along the way? I'm find if you have her working at the GAP, by the way; I'd bet she figures out a badass way to fold jeans.

Any of the above would make a fantastic story. As long as it's funny and has lots of Jane and Jeff being adorably badass, I'll be happy.

VR.5: I adored this show. If you don't own it, the episodes can be found on YouTube.
Duncan -- he stayed with Sydney throughout her life. Her mother is in a mental facility, her father and sister are dead -- or not, but Duncan has remained a constant. He knew kabbalah symbols before the practice was as famous as it is now. He's not plugged in to the virtual world, but he deals in the mystic. In "Escape," his prolonged VR.5 interlude was entirely inside his own head, something no one else had done. I'd like to know how he made his choice to stay at Sydney's side. I'd rather keep Duncan and Sydney as a platonic relationship.

There's also the neon sign on the roof of their building. Seymour's with its flashing lights rotating through "Eat More, Sleep More, Play More" -- and in VR, Sydney (and others) certainly "see more" than they otherwise would. Sydney and Duncan often meet late at night under it. What does the Buddhist-leaning Duncan make of it?

I also adore Oliver and Sydney's relationship and Oliver with Alex and her many faces. An exploration of the Bloom marriage pre-car accident would be stunning. Or a character study of either of the Bloom parents that includes the missing twin. Any rating. Essentially, I'm easy in this fandom. There's so little exploration of this multi-levelled world.

Nora Bloom probably put herself into her current state deliberately. How did she make that choice. By the time of the series, it's not really helping Sydney, but did it at first? She's very intriguing.

Bonus Ball: The Illusionist (2006) -- Anything more of Eisenheim's travels. How did he become someone who could fill the Opera House and have crown princes come to see him. Did he think of Sophie? Did she imagine his life? Did s/he think they would meet again? If you want to throw in Inspector Uhl, I'd be happy to see him.

Thank you so much for writing a story for me. I can't wait to read it.

Oh, wow, I'd forgotten about Easy Virtue! I requested that once, I think I wanted some kind of Larita/Jim/Furber relationship, or at least for him to become their trusted confidante in a more equal relationship (socialism!) I didn't get it then, might try again this year!
