Election Day!

I voted. I'm still disappointed that "None of the Above" is not an option in some of these races.

I got to meet Dick Gregory! He was handing out literature for one of the At-Large council races.

The only vote of mine which I will reveal is that I voted "Yes" on Marijuana legalization. I'm not entirely certain I think it's a good idea (I've never tried it), but a) I don't want my neighbors who smoke enough that I get a contact high by leaving the windows open to get in trouble and b) It will piss-off certain members of Congress -- possibly to the point where they interfere.

I really think the District won't get other states caring about our lack of representation until congressional interference is seen.

Elections are tricky for me because I'm a moderate - in the end I'm still mostly liberal, but I have a few beliefs that are too conservative for a lot of liberals, yet too liberal for a lot of conservatives. In the end I think often things come down to the specific situation, as opposed to one rule for a broad range of situations, if that makes sense? So that makes it really hard to vote for someone with a specific stance when my immediate response is, "yeah, but is that always the case?" (Not that I don't have things I absolutely believe to be true or untrue.)

I know what you mean. I've always been an independent. I remember 1 election in Massachusetts where I voted Republican for governor because the Democratic nominee was someone I opposed, Democratic for most of the other offices, Green for one office, and Libertarian for State Treasurer because she was the only one with any accounting experience. You just never know.

I voted, but had to pass on the school board elections, because I seriously have not had the spoons to keep track of things there.

At least with state legislature and Congress, I can be reasonably sure that my party's candidate has been vetted for reasonably sane behavior.

Yeah. It would help, at least in the District, if the candidates would be more detailed in their official statements for the Election Guide and if the Guide were distributed earlier than it is.
