The good news is it isn't a heart attack. It's a bacterial infection. He's on massive amounts of IV antibiotics. I'd be more optimistic if this weren't the third time that he's been on heavy duty antibiotics in the past three months.
The bad news is that the trauma induced insulin shock. They've gotten his insulin levels stable now, but one of the things to be discussed is whether he will now be entirely insulin dependent. He's been diet controlled diabetic so long (30 years), that I don't think any of us ever expected he'd need insulin.
Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers. We're still worried about him, but it's manageable worry, if that makes any sense.
