I'm sitting here crying. The individual mandate was upheld. ROBERTS voted for it.

I will never again have to be declared indigent to have my pneumonia treated. I will never again have to fear that I can't pay for the basic prescriptions that will help me when I'm sick.

I don't care about the taxes. I paid more in tax by percentage when I lived in Belgium. But I had appendicitis in Belgium and didn't have to fear they wouldn't treat me.

Health care will be available to the people I see on the street every day. This is good.

I am so pleased about this. I am unlikely to have to worry about it specifically, but I was so worried that they'll kill this, and then it would be the launchpad to go after all the other federal programs too. Haven't had time to look into the finding yet, but did see that at least 3 of the 4 dissenters wanted to strike the entire bill start to finish. It's hard to see that at anything other than hyper-partisan.

But yes, so, so happy about this finding. (Also, I should call you, just to catch up, because I am terrible about staying in touch.)

It takes two to be bad about staying in touch. If you're around this weekend, I'll give you a call.

I'll be around part of the time. Saturday if Beginning of Summer, so I likely won't have my phone on me much of that day (it will be in my handbag in a corner somewhere), but should be reachable Saturday morning or Sunday.

I am so excited, and I can't be cheerful anywhere my mom might see, because she is gloomily sure that I will now die in poverty :because: of this ruling. So.

Picture me making the Scooby-Doo face. What's her logic?

I'm glad you're cheerful, though.

Something something socialism, something something you'll pay huge taxes something something big government. There's no logic to it at all, it's just whatever she cobbles together from half-listening to all the most awful right-wing radio hosts all day.

Ah.

On the plus side, Yul Brynner!

Yul makes many things better. Not my mom's brand of political crazy, alas, but many things.

Hope you weathered the storms ok. Heard it was a doozy.

One of the most terrifying things I've seen. Unlike many people in my region, I still have power and there were no deaths or major damage.

It's such a relief.

Glad to hear you're okay and no damage. The pictures looked pretty awful.

As to the Supreme's: way to go! My daughter and her husband have no insurance whatsoever and can't possible afford it on what she makes. I hope that this will mean that she will be able to get some basic coverage and not have to worry about getting sick and not being able to get treatment. (Though, of course, we would always help her as much as we could, we're not rich by any means and healthcare is so damn expensive these days, even if you have insurance ! )

Happy Fourth of July!

I'm so glad your daughter and her husband will be covered. I'm just sorry it's two years away.
