So. I'm staying in DC for my birthday, but that's okay because I have a kickass present the night before: A ticket to see Placido Domingo's last performance with the Washington National Opera in Iphigenie in Tauride. I've never seen an opera by Gluck. They're box seats! I'm thrilled.

BUT -- on my actual birthday, Sunday, I have to work. No pay (although there might be approval for comp time). This is just awful.

I loved Iphegenie En Tauride when I saw it at the Met. Kind of slashtastic if you like that kind of thing.

This coming Sunday? Because it just so happens that Tim and I will be in DC-ish that day (inside the beltway, at any rate). Would you have any interest in having a birthday dinner or the like *after* work?

I'm sorry we're not going to get to see you for your birthday. I hope you can schedule that trip to Boston soon, although I've heard that plane and train fares are now running very high.
