I wrote some for a story. LJ and Archive of our Own won't keep the tabs in. While I'm not a huge free verse fan, I think the spacing is important to the impact of the poem.

Does anyone know how I can get tabs to stay where I put them in html?

*sigh*

There are two ways.

A. The tricksy way is to use [blockquote] to indent -- but this can make it hard to get the linespacing right.

he was a handsome man
and what I want to know is
how do you like your blueeyed boy
Mister Death

B. The PITA way is to use ampersand-nbsp; for each non-breaking space.

he was a handsome man

and what I want to know is

how do you like your blueeyed boy

Mister Death

C. or use the [pre] tag to conserve spacing, but then lines won't wrap, and you're likely too see everything in Courier or a similar monospaced font.

he was a handsome man

and what I want to know is

how do you like your blueeyed boy

Mister Death

is that   or &-nbsp? And I assume it goes in <>?

Thank you. *G*
