Community Supported Agriculture is a wonderful thing. It's such a nice idea that you pay in for your share, or in my case half-share, and throughout the late spring through late autumn, you get enough fresh vegetables for the whole week.
Or not.
I was prepared to come on-line Friday night and wax eloquent about the huge bounty my first delivery had given me.
What I got:
1 lb of baby kale
1/2 lb of mesclun greens that will be better when I've separated out the grass
Mixed herbs including lemon balm, oregano, basil, sage, and something that reminds me of Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors.
Cattawissa Onions (they're kind of cool)
3 French radishes
It's the first week. The weather's been wet. And farming is not an exact science.
My grandfathers were both farmers, in one case by profession and in the other case in order to eat. I know that harvests are unpredictable.
But I'm still a little disappointed. Which is why I didn't come on-line Friday and had a Man From U.N.C.L.E. marathon instead.
