Sis and I took off for San Diego Friday night.

Going that near the Mexican Border on Cinco de Mayo wasn't our smartest move, but there was an exhibit at the Art Museum that I wanted to see that was leaving on May 14. The only real problem with the holiday, besides not being able to get into Old Town thanks to the crowds, was we ended up with a slightly more expensive hotel room than we might have.

Sis really wanted to go to the zoo and that's how we spent Saturday morning. She got some great pictures. The tigers (my favorites) were off exhibit, but that just gives us an excuse to go back.

There were a few depressing things, too. The number of animals we saw that were endangered or at least threatened was high. Many of the monkeys and apes were under threat from the "bushmeat" trade. I'm considering vegetarianism.

I got to feed the giraffes. I was thrilled. They're so sweet. And I'm still grinning.

Other nice things were seeing the exhibits at the museum, a ride on an antique carousel, and having time away from the folks.

Pictures will follow at some point.
