They didn't close the office today. I know that because I was there for nearly 5 minutes this morning.

They sent me home after:
A) Being very nice about my coughing fit
B) Reaming me out (gently) for not staying home.

The announcement on the news was "people with asthma should stay away from the fire zones." I don't have asthma. I came to work. The breathing problems started nearly three miles away. (The entire valley reeks of smoke which makes sense when you realize that we're pretty much walled in by fire on the west and the east.) I figured that the heavy duty industrial type air conditioning would be fine. I should have remembered yesterday, I guess. Then I was OK, but already having a scratchy throat and a lot of "harrumphing" as I tried to clear it.

Then I crossed the parking lot. Not so fine. Or rather the ash was very fine indeed. I started coughing, got sent home, started the drive back, and didn't breathe without coughing until I was once again several miles away. My ribs ache.

So. No pay today. On the plus side, I went to my Dad's doctor appointment with him and was able to get both 'flu and pneumonia shots. The reversal into the garden wall at my parents house was definitely on the minus side.

Sis is sick, so no Serenity until tomorrow.
