And the mayor is an idiot.

We're expecting up to 16" between now and noon tomorrow, but he'll make a decision in the morning about whether DC government will open.

No.

Make it now before people go to sleep. Make it so Metro can breathe more easily about the work they have to do.

Conditions are appalling outside and they're expected to a) ease up around midnight and b) get far worse around 5 a.m.

20 mph winds with 50 mph gusts.

Seriously, it's a no-brainer.

On the plus side, I was able to get my cupboards restocked (a bit) at the Safeway that's only a couple of blocks from me.

The BIG plus: The Ethiopian Coffee shop I mention occasionally? The one that roasts their own fair trade beans on the premises? I found out I can by coffee for home from them. The price is comparable to what I get at the grocery store, but I get Ethiopian Harrer that was dark roasted yesterday.

ETA: at 11 pm, 6 hours after the Federal government decided to close, Mayor Fenty closed District Government for all except emergency personnel. I'm going to bed and sleeping in tomorrow. I got the last can of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls at the grocery store -- good breakfast!

This is obviously hyperbolic, but sometimes it seems as if having no brain is a qualification for holding office--at least, medium to high office.

I believe more politicians are having brain-ectomies too. *G*

SERIOUSLY. Here in Indiana we only have about a foot of snow (which is still a lot) and they just called Mom's school off for tomorrow. It's ridiculous that he's even considering keeping it open tomorrow.

Yeah. We are closed, and I'm happy. The winds are supposed to the be big issue tomorrow. Seriously, though. Metro announced that no above ground transportation would run tomorrow at 7 pm. He doesn't announce until 11?

Hope you stay safe and warm.

Ethiopian coffee FTW! DC Mayor -- not so much. Well, at least he decided to close, but stil... really... he couldn't have made that decision MUCH earlier. What did he think would happen?

Hope you enjoyed sleeping in. And your cinnamon rolls. Yum!

Enjoy the day with good coffee and those cinnamon rolls. I'm jealous -- you don't even have to shovel!
