I didn't go to work today. The bus I needed wasn't running and it would have been a mile and a half walk from where the other bus or the metro would have left me off.

We shouldn't have been called in. I have no problem with truly essential people getting double time pay today (I hope they did), but those of us who aren't essential to the safe working of the city should have been at home letting the others do their jobs and do them without worrying about idiots.

We are expecting another 5"-10" beginning late tomorrow afternoon through Wednesday. The outside limit on this storm is actually 16" which is what they're expecting in Baltimore tomorrow. Mind you, they're starting with less on the ground.

Part of me feels a tiny bit guilty for staying home. But the Federal government was shut down except for essential personnel (duty officers, certain maintenance people), and I think it was criminal that the DC government wasn't. It's supposed to get down to 10F tonight. The plows are trying to keep the main roads clear. Many side streets haven't been cleared. Even those that have been are having frozen slush issues.

Loudoun County schools are right. Stay closed through the week. The long range forecast is saying another one on Friday or Saturday.

I moved away from Boston for a reason. *G*

*hangs head*

Actually, one of the most revelatory moments of my life was when my then boyfriend said, "Lovey, it's snowing outside. Is that your fault too?" and I realized that I didn't have to accept the blame Mom laid on me. *G*

No, liberal leave wasn't in effect.

Definitely not. And oh dear. I'm sorry I joked about it now. *hugs*
