Over a year ago, I saw two photographs that I loved. They aren't great art, though the photographer has done some things which are, but they are beautiful representations of the wonders of a kiss. Unfortunately, every time I looked for him at Eastern Market or one of the other art fairs, he wasn't there.

Over a month ago, I commissioned piece from a local artist. It's mostly practical, a place to put mail and hang my keys, but she uses old pictures to do it. I asked her if she had any of Brussels. She didn't, but she found a picture of the Grand' Place from the 1890s (there was a bandstand!) in the Library of Congress archives and made me one.

Today, I went to pick it up at a local street fair. On the way to her booth, I saw another image I remembered by the first artist. I found the two I loved, but, because I was paying for the commissioned piece, I didn't have enough to buy them today. I asked where he'd be in October, and told him that I'd been looking for these pictures for a long time.

He gave me one of the pictures along with his card so I can find him again.

And in another moment of serendipity, someone asked the person who made my mail holder if she had any with images of Brussels. She's considering doing more with more obscure cities, including Brussels.
