I've already turned off the debate because Palin refuses to answer the questions.

"I'm not gonna answer the questions, I'm just gonna talk straight to the American people."

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

The problem with accepting atheism into my heart is that I have no one to pray to that the American people will listen and say, "Damn! Let's vote for the other guy."

*snerk* I just said the same thing. But I've still got it on, at least for a few minutes.

Just for the record, I will read the whole debate tomorrow. But it's a new(ish) TV. I shouldn't throw things at it.

I've got the Canadian debate on. It's much more interesting; they actually address issues.

Issues. I miss issues.

But it's not like anything important has been going on in the country, right?

I managed to watch the whole thing which is amazing considering how much I dislike listening to Palin.

It scares me that there must be plenty of people out there who won't have a problem with Palin not answering the questions. After all, she and McCain are mavericks! (Don't get me started on how inane the phrase "team of mavericks" is.)

But if they're both mavericks...

Sorry, my brain is trying to secede for even thinking about it.

Palin was worse, but neither one of them answered any questions. It was 90 minutes of prememorized crap, completely tangential to the questions.

And gosh darn, do I wanna throw something at her cute lil folksy head. Must be because I'm one of those screwed up northeastern types.

I just can't wait for her to refer to something as "slicker than snot." Can't get more folksy than that.

As for the whole Northeastern thing. Nope. I'm Southern, and I want to slap her silly.

But we're elitists. *G*

Well, I guess she knows no significant numbers of people from here are going to vote for her anyway, so it's OK to make snotty remarks about us.

I don't know how she normally speaks, but it all came across as carefully put on to me - even if she does talk like that round the house, it's not what I think of as appropriate for formal situations, so I found it incredibly annoying and cutesy.

The thing is, the Republicans could get a significant part of Massachusetts if they didn't aim so exclusively at the Bible Belt. The fishing industry off Cape Ann and Fall River should be in love with her, for instance, but the anti-Catholicism of the Evangelicals is probably going to make Massachusetts look deep blue come election day.

I have to give points to Palin for enough "straight talk" to admit she wouldn't necessarily answer the questions. Most of these guys just avoid questions and hope we won't notice--or figure it doesn't matter if we do.

Today, I went to factcheck.org to see how much they screwed up. Both did. Some screw-ups were at least in their third or fourth rerun. If there ever is a politician who doesn't make it on the wrong side of genuine fact-checking, or at least doesn't do it on a rerun, I might damn near have to become a full-fledged theist!

It was the smugness on her face when she made it that remark that infuriated me.

Factcheck.org performs a wonderful service. More people should use it.
