The worst possible death for one of the truest Companions.
I didn't find the German speaking Daleks cheesy, I found them terrifying.
The look on the Doctor's face when the Osterhagen key is being explained was everything -- all goodness, all horror, all pain. My first episode of "new Who" was The Girl in the Fireplace, and I thought "Cool story, nice sci-fi, good actor." Over the past three years, though, I think he's developed. I could always believe the Oncoming Storm, weirdly enough. But now I believe both the loneliness and the love (both for and) of life which the Doctor possesses. That's all down to Tennant (with magnificent -- mostly -- assistance from the writers).
Martha made the right call about the Key, use it to take away Dalek power over the whole universe even at the expense of all humanity -- but call first. Make sure there isn't a better solution before becoming the Earth's personal Oncoming Storm.
Jack was beautiful. It struck me as both funny and sad that Rose had no idea of the gift and curse she'd passed on to him. Is it wrong that I hope there's some way, story, whatever that he and Sarah Jane get to spend a dirty weekend together?
Rose and 10.5 ending up together was a good wrap-up. The humanity of his reaching for her waist to bend and whisper an intimacy that can't be shared with another -- even the one who first spoke that intimacy -- was a lovely moment. I've never been a Rose/Ten (or Nine for that matter) 'shipper, at least partially because I grew up with Patrick Troughton as my Doctor. This was the only possible ending that could satisfy us classicists and the 'shippers.
My heart broke for Donna. Wilf made me cry.

Date: 2008-08-02 12:01 pm (UTC)I completely agree w/ you regards Sarah Jane and Jack (I hope they don't think that he and Ianto means he has to be upright and monogamous now.)
And I'm very much hoping that Mickey and Martha (especially Mickey) end up on Torchwood. Mickey was always a shade young for me, but I guess he's grown up just enough, because he looked pretty darn good there at the end.
And I so wanted Donna to end up back w/ her stuttering fisherman. Surely there's some way they can find him and set him up in the 21st century so he can run into her.
