On 3/25/1975, my father came home from his third and final tour in Vietnam. He came into Dulles Airport.

I still remember the first thing I said to him: "We just heard on the radio, Da Nang fell."

"Well, that's the end."

And 35 days later Saigon fell.

For some reason, this post hit me hard.

Almost as hard as Tiananmen Square. *sigh*

I passed a family waiting for their parent to return from Iraq in an airport a few months back and nearly collapsed. Some moments are so private but have to be played out in public.

My current secret fear is that we'll have another 1968. The Olympics protests are starting already.

Did you have friends or relatives at Tiananmen Square? Were you there?
