I have yet to read my copy, so I can't recommend on "really, really need to read" in the usual sense, but the anthology Recognize Fascism came out last year, which is pretty damn timely.

A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher--A young baker with magical bread powers is reluctantly drawn into a conspiracy that threatens her city.
