So, I hope everyone knows that some missing Doctor Who episodes were found in Nigeria last month.

And I assume everyone knows that Matt Smith is leaving the role and it's being taken over by Peter Capaldi.

One thing I've liked about New Who is the idea that the Doctor is getting physically younger with each regeneration. They're more frequent now, something established with William Hartnell's One who hadn't regenerated in his nearly 900 years, so I can see each one being younger and younger. And then we get Capaldi -- whom I love as an actor -- who is clearly in his fifties (three years older than I am according to imdb.com).

When I mentioned this to someone on the Metro the other night, he said that Matt Smith was in his mid-twenties when he took over and who younger could play the role convincingly? I immediately said "Robbie Kay."

He's 18. He's been playing Peter Pan as sinisterly as I think the character should be played on Once Upon a Time. I can believe him as someone both young and eternal. I can also see him making the ruthless choices the Doctor is called upon to make sometimes.

I think Capaldi will do a great job, but I wish they'd gone with a younger actor.

(At age 7, I bought my first books from Scholastic at my elementary school. One was Peter Pan and Wendy by James M. Barrie -- a book notable for being the one where I figured out how to read silently. I read it many times and loved it. In my teens I read it again and thought, hmmm. I portrayed several characters in the play in college, including a scene as a mermaid where I then had to do a twelve foot trust fall. As I get older, Peter Pan seems more and more sinister -- especially with taking the Lost Boys.)

I'm actually really happy they didn't go for someone too young. I've only recently started to come around to Smith, but I think it will be interesting to see a new doctor who is older. Plus, I really thought Capaldi did a good job in the one Who episode he was in.

The issue with someone THAT young is that they are still going to be growing. Generally, the doctor doesn't really look like he's aging that quickly but in the period of a year or so you could have an actor who is around 18 possibly physically change quite a bit in the next few years.

Though, I don't watch Once Upon a Time, so I really don't know who this actor is.
