Who knows anything about light boxes? My doctor suggested that I use one, and I need recommendations.

Also, is anyone else getting premonitions of a particularly cold winter? I keep wanting to buy long underwear, tights, and wool pants.

No premonitions here, because, you know, subtropics, but some of the blogs I visit have been talking about omens of a hard winter.

I've heard that the Farmer's Almanac is predicting a cold one. I can deal with cold, but dreary is another story, because my husband's general mental health stuff definitely gets tied into SAD. Thus, lightbox. It's not a cure-all but he uses it in the mornings and says if he skips he can tell. I think the brand he uses is called Day Light. We just picked one off of Amazon.

I have a light box, which helps somewhat, I think. Using it leads me to think my own particular winter funk is part light and part cold. I don't do well in extreme heat or moderate cold unless I'm so busy I forget the cold. With me, the light helps with mood while I'm under the light. The effect wears off within an hour or so, so maybe I need more than an hour a day or a portable light visor or maybe it just isn't my solution. More consistency might help too. :-)

Mine is a SunSation by Sunbox.

Is there a ritual dance we can do for a mild winter? I really can't afford the gas bills that go with a rough one.
