I didn't see the Carrie Underwood "Sound of Music," and, since my first reaction to hearing of a death is laughter/sarcasm (seriously, it's a nervous reaction that I suppress strenuously -- and then the gut blow of loss hits me), my first uncensored thought upon reading that Eleanor Parker had died was "she needed a grave to roll over in." *sigh* (I hate my brain sometimes.)

The Guardian has informed me that the production was a hit. NBC is looking to do more. My suggestions (which I put in the comments):

Actually, there are several Broadway musicals that were either never made into films/tv presentations or whose films aren't well known. I'd like to see Gershwin's "Of Thee I Sing" as a July 4th presentation. "Finian's Rainbow" could be done for Martin Luther King weekend with a re-showing on Saint Patrick's Day. "Pajama Game" would be perfect for Labor Day. A little forethought and NBC could do this for years.

Any other suggestions?
