Dave Brubeck
Dec. 5th, 2012 03:45 pmHe died today, just one day short of his 92 birthday.
When I was at University (before I flunked out), I was part of the choir, and we performed his Cantata La Fiesta de la Posada. The choir director invited Brubeck to play it with us, and he agreed. It was an amazing experience (and the view from the alto section was probably one of the best).
Take 5 and Blue Rondo a la Turk still thrill me when I hear them.
I got into Jazz at a young age through my Dad and through the old Flip Wilson show. Dad introduced me to Jazz Goes To College and Brubeck. I'll miss the man and his music.
