The good news is that I have $400 in travel credit from the airline. I also have free wi-fi and some free food. (If I may offer a tip to public food areas... Have more than two flavors of yogurt. If you can't have more than two flavors of yogurt, make sure they are VERY different. Strawberry and Strawberry-Banana are not sufficient in that regard.)

To do that, I had to get up at four in the morning, be bumped from my 8:00 a.m. flight, and have my new flight not be until 6:35 p.m.

Allow me to add, that they did have me on an earlier flight -- to the wrong city in Florida. I pointed out that Orlando wasn't going to help me when I needed to be in Tampa/Clearwater, hence the 6:35 pm flight.

I'd hoped to get to the Salvador Dali Museum today, but that's not going to happen. Swimming may still happen if the pool is open when I get to the hotel. I like swimming at night.

I remember buying Time Magazine when it happened. That sounds trivial, but I was living in Mannheim at the time and relying on Stars and Stripes and a weekly purchase of The Observer (British Sunday Paper for those who aren't familiar) to keep me abreast of world news. An event had to be huge for me to buy a weekly magazine to get more details.

The images were awful. I kept thinking it looked like the casts at Pompeii with real corpses. My mind kept trying distancing tactics because it was too horrible.

So why the FUCK has it taken *checks calendar* 26 years to get convictions?

Over 3000 people died immediately, some from being trampled to death. The area of the disaster encompassed 520,000 people and as many as 300,000 may have long terms effects.

No wonder people think B(oycott) P(etroleum) will never have to answer for the disaster in the Gulf.
