This will be my last post for a minimum of two weeks. It could be as long as a month.

I'm in the process of loading the car (and continuing to sort) to leave either late tonight or in the wee small hours of the morning. My modem should arrive next week sometime, at which point I can schedule an appointment to get internet service. I've been warned that could take two weeks or more to get.

I won't be checking LJ much. My only internet access will be at the office, so...

If you need to contact me, email is the best bet. If you don't know my email address, send a message to me through LJ. I get an alert at my email, and I'll send it to you from there.

Two things before I sign off for awhile (and I'll have my computer on and be checking until sometime tonight). The first is to thank three people publicly.

The first and most important is [livejournal.com profile] eanja. There are not many people in this world who will take someone they know only slightly into their home. [livejournal.com profile] eanja did this in 2004. I was supposed to stay with her a couple of months. I actually moved out in 2005 over a year later. She's become a good friend. This time I did only stay a few months. But it was supposed to be two, and it turned into five. Her help and kindness cannot be minimized. I had no job, no money, and no prospects. Unlike my family, she never made me feel like a burden to her. Apparently having dinner on the table when she came home was ... I was about to say enough. It wasn't. It isn't. Thank you.

[livejournal.com profile] gileswench I've known much longer. Her contributions to my sanity cannot be emphasized enough. (Her contributions to the fun types of my insanity will be swept quietly under the rug.) I'm sorry we're on opposite coasts again, but she's still a dear friend of my heart. I know we'll see each other in the future.

[livejournal.com profile] riverfox has let me vent at her when the world seemed too much. So many times IMing with her has helped me find my lost sense of humor.

There are so many others to thank for their support: [livejournal.com profile] thorbol, [livejournal.com profile] moria923, [livejournal.com profile] jerminating, [livejournal.com profile] siderea, [livejournal.com profile] kestrell, and [livejournal.com profile] shawn_club are just the tip of a very large iceberg.

The second is a small rant.

Who the hell decided my rental car shouldn't have its manual? They don't leave the manual in the car. This means I've been trying to figure out how to maximize my space all by myself.

Don't they know better? People like me are a menace to engineering issues.
