Mom and Sis leave on vacation for a week. Hip, hip, hurray.
The most perfect summer drink I ever had was Caffe Freddo. It was many years ago, in Venice that I had it. Double strong espresso that had been highly sweetened and chilled on ice (rather than having ice put in it) was served in a shot glass. The cost was about fifty cents. Absolutely perfect. I'm currently trying to recreate it. If it works, I'll let you know.
I have the world's coolest sunglasses. They were my birthday present -- early -- from my folks. It says something about my mother that she didn't offer me new glasses -- even though I needed them, but new sunglasses because she thought the cheap pair that I slip over my glasses was ugly and she didn't want to be seen with me. Instead, I now have extremely expensive new sunglasses that can't take a prescription. That's OK because I'm once again wearing contacts.
Contact lenses have improved and my eye problems can really only be solved with contacts so I'm back in an experimental pair. It's going well. I've adjusted faster than I thought I would. One eye needs a slightly stronger prescpription than the experimental pair. I should get that changed on Monday and then another experimental week before getting contacts full time.
Mom also insisted that, since I can no longer wear mascara and my eyebrows have lightened (and I won't use an eyebrow pencil), I get my brows and lashes dyed. I'm vain enough that I admit I really like having my lashes seen, but the brows are more problematic. Let it suffice that I'm really pleased my sister's getting on a plane tonight because I'm not sure how much longer I can take being called "Joan Crawford."
