I'm at Logan waiting for my flight back to Dulles. It was delayed due to weather, but I've found a place to plug in my laptop.
This weekend has been fantastic. I made gravlax for the party. Introduced
eanja to Sapphire and Steel and talked to her for many hours.
On Thursday, I got to see
thorbol and
moria923 in the afternoon. Bessie,
thorbol's dog thought I was the greatest and left me lots of hair. It was good to talk to them. I found out some mutual friends will be moving to DC. I hope I can convince them to move close by.
Later, I spent the evening with
siderea. Great food, better conversation. She looked well and content.
Friday, I found out that the Harvard Museums are undergoing renovation, so they are mostly closed. It turned out to be a good thing I stayed home. Sis called me. Dad's oncologist has determined that chemo is doing more damage than the Waldenstrom's. We ended up talking for a long time. Keep your finger's crossed she has two potential jobs. One would be as an editor, but it's non-union so no health insurance; the other would be as an assistant which is less money (and less prestige), but it's union and has health benefits.
Saturday was the party. I saw
atricilla and her beau. They introduced me to
nyren and through him I met
contradictacat. I saw several other people who aren't on LJ, but are old friends. Plus I got a couple of chances to talk to
sunspiral and
roozle. It was my first time seeing the firespinning. Deeply cool.
Sunday I spent with John and Eithne of Canterbury at the MFA. In the evening, I saw
nyren.
All in all, it's been a wonderful weekend. I can't thank
eanja enough for letting me stay with her.
I'm still smiling, no matter the weather or the delays.

Glad you had a nice time in Beantown though.

I wish I'd had more chance to talk to you, but I know how busy you are at these. And I got to see firespinning. It was so cool!

I'm so sorry about your dad. Do they have an alternative treatment plan?

Date: 2009-06-24 10:49 pm (UTC)Sapphire and Steel was a TV show designed by ITV to be a rival to Doctor Who. It boxed itself into a corner in two years and six short seasons, but, oh, the people who made it were wonderful.
