I'm at Logan waiting for my flight back to Dulles. It was delayed due to weather, but I've found a place to plug in my laptop.

This weekend has been fantastic. I made gravlax for the party. Introduced [livejournal.com profile] eanja to Sapphire and Steel and talked to her for many hours.

On Thursday, I got to see [livejournal.com profile] thorbol and [livejournal.com profile] moria923 in the afternoon. Bessie, [livejournal.com profile] thorbol's dog thought I was the greatest and left me lots of hair. It was good to talk to them. I found out some mutual friends will be moving to DC. I hope I can convince them to move close by.

Later, I spent the evening with [livejournal.com profile] siderea. Great food, better conversation. She looked well and content.

Friday, I found out that the Harvard Museums are undergoing renovation, so they are mostly closed. It turned out to be a good thing I stayed home. Sis called me. Dad's oncologist has determined that chemo is doing more damage than the Waldenstrom's. We ended up talking for a long time. Keep your finger's crossed she has two potential jobs. One would be as an editor, but it's non-union so no health insurance; the other would be as an assistant which is less money (and less prestige), but it's union and has health benefits.

Saturday was the party. I saw [livejournal.com profile] atricilla and her beau. They introduced me to [livejournal.com profile] nyren and through him I met [livejournal.com profile] contradictacat. I saw several other people who aren't on LJ, but are old friends. Plus I got a couple of chances to talk to [livejournal.com profile] sunspiral and [livejournal.com profile] roozle. It was my first time seeing the firespinning. Deeply cool.

Sunday I spent with John and Eithne of Canterbury at the MFA. In the evening, I saw [livejournal.com profile] nyren.

All in all, it's been a wonderful weekend. I can't thank [livejournal.com profile] eanja enough for letting me stay with her.

I'm still smiling, no matter the weather or the delays.

[livejournal.com profile] eanja was really the only one who knew before Wednesday. I had this weird feeling that if I told anyone, I wouldn't be able to come.

I'm sorry I missed you. This trip convinced me of one thing. Next time I come, it has to be for longer.

*hugs*

Oh you're in Boston! Sighs in relief Or maybe back in DC by now...

Hope you took a cab or something to get home. *tries to think how metro lines run and if they extend to dulles*

(closest to my worried icon)

Glad you had a nice time in Beantown though.

Thank you for the bed. *BEG*

There's a bus to Dulles, but with all the problems, I paid for SuperShuttle to get me home. I think it was probably the right decision in spite of the cost.

Sweet of you to worry.

It was wonderful seeing so many old friends.

It was wonderful making new ones.

I wish I'd had more chance to talk to you, but I know how busy you are at these. And I got to see firespinning. It was so cool!

I'm always reachable by email or phone. :-)
One of my favorite things about our parties are all the friendships and relationships that start at them.

It was wonderful to see you, too, sweetie!

What's Sapphire and Steel?

I'm so sorry about your dad. Do they have an alternative treatment plan?

No alternative treatment plan.

Sapphire and Steel was a TV show designed by ITV to be a rival to Doctor Who. It boxed itself into a corner in two years and six short seasons, but, oh, the people who made it were wonderful.
