Response to a tag

I don't usually talk about fanfiction in my LJ, and I pretty much never talk about my fanfiction. But Joy tagged me, and I feel honor bound. Skip what's behind the cut if you're not interested in finding out what my 5 favorite stories that I've written are.

1. Peppermint Soda This was my first story in the Smallville fandom, and it led to my first series. The final story is still, several years later, a work in progress in my Documents files, but I like what I did with the characters.

2. Come Saturday Morning was the first fanfiction I wrote. I'm proud of the characterizations of the Buffy 'verse. I'm equally proud that I had the guts to post it.

3. Reverence This is unlike anything I've ever written. [livejournal.com profile] thamiris had a "Blow it with Feeling" challenge. Everyone participating chose three emotions and was assigned one of them. I got Satiety and wrote a story for that, but I also chose Embarrassment (and wrote a Smallville story by that title) and Reverence. Someone else got that emotion eventually so this story couldn't be posted at the challenge site, but this was my first Jack/Daniel story and my second (after Sated) in the Stargate fandom.

4. Consequences dealt with subjects that were near and dear to my heart -- just war theory and how it and the Geneva Conventions would have to adapt to space exploration. In some ways, I wish I hadn't made it a slash story. It was a weakness as a writer that I couldn't think of another precipitating factor that would have let me have a near happy ending. But in spite of its flaws, I think I dealt with the idea that destroying an alien species can still be called genocide and the military aspects of the decisions made in the Stargate episode "Scorched Earth" quite well.

5. Tough Kid. This proved I could write a PG rated story. It is also the only story of mine to win an award. It's mostly dialogue, but I think I keep the plot flow going relatively well, too.

Honorable mentions must be made of
A) anything that I've written with Gileswench. We refer to each other as a twisted sister and The Bet, Have yourself a Scooby Little Orgy, and Two Guys Walk into a Bar prove exactly how twisted we can be. None of these is for the faint of heart.

B) Tricks and Quirks has gotten evil points back when they were being awarded in the Buffy fandom. The pairing is Mr. Trick/Principal Snyder, and, in my defence, the challenge was to come up with the most unlikely pairing I could think of. It's not well written; it's my first attempt at slash and boy, did I bollix it up. However, it taught me two things:
1)you can get away with anything if it's funny
2)the actors can find and read these stories. Someone sent it to Armin Shimmerman (and remember this is only the fourth story I've written and posted). Bless him. He just said he was happy that anyone could picture Snyder getting some. I've never allowed myself the illusion of thinking that these stories exist in a void because of that.

Rhiannonhero, serafina20, Gileswench, and totaltvaddict (if she has an LJ) have hereby been duly tagged.

:) I liked the SG and SV stories--particularly Peppermint. I've never read the others because I just couldn't get into the fandom. Still kills me about Armin though. *hugs* :)))

Everyone should read Tricks and Quirks; it's only 5 pages.

And, in spite of my newness to fanfic and my complete bollixing of all slash, it's probably still better than that story you were telling me about today.

Will read then. Where's it at?

And *facepalm* even my early stuff's gotta be better than having Daniel view Jack and Ferretti as football stars. ::thud::

It really is a very early effort.

*tries not to grin too much*

That was just wrong. On many levels. But very, very fun. ;) And not badly written. :)

So you see why it got evil points? *G*

Absolutely. :)))

Wheee! Honorable mentions!

I still laugh when I think of Armin Shimmerman reading Tricks and Quirks because that's pretty gloriously wrong.

Now I'll have to decide which are my faves of my writings. Not easy. There's a lot to sort through in my brain.

That's because there is a vast sea of your stories whereas there are only about 20 of mine per fandom. *G*
