Idalia

The local impact will hit us at 2 p.m., maybe as early as noon. Winds are expected to be around 50 mph, but Tybee Island, less than 20 miles east, is expected to have winds of 75 mph.

We have a walk in closet fitted out as a hurricane/tornado room. It's tight for 3 people and 2 dogs, but it's better than being exposed to windows that can shatter. There's water, tuna, triscuits, and cookies in there.

We've closed all of the interior shutters. With luck, we'll have electricity.

I don't want to jinx it, but although tropical storms pass through each year, we tend to be safe from the more damaging hurricanes, due to being the southern-most island in the chain. The ones that are higher up, nearer to USA, get hit the hardest.
