ICU

The doctor originally wanted to send Mom home yesterday.

She spiked a fever in the night and her blood pressure readings became so erratic, that I am currently sitting with her in the ICU. Had it happened at home, I’m not certain Sis or I would have noticed because there’s nothing to monitor her there.

Oy. Can you get a thermometer and a blood-pressure-tester? My significant other has a home blood-pressure tester that is designed to use on yourself: it goes around your wrist, you hold your wrist up in front of your heart and push the Start button, it tightens, measures, releases, and displays the results on its little screen. Easier and faster than the classic arrangement with the arm cuff and stethoscope.

Seconded - BP measuring equipment is no longer difficult to get or operate. All that aside, I hope she makes a full recovery from whatever knocked her out!

I also own one of these devices. They've become more user/patient-friendly in design to be sure. More to the point, I should be using it far more often than I have in the past year.
