Day 12, FYI

If anyone is interested, the 'active shooter' at the Navy Yard is in my ANC (not my single-member-district, though) and about half a mile (or less) from where I live.

My thoughts are with everyone who works there or lives nearby.

ETA frivolities:

I just made my Yuletide fandom nominations!

I really loved spending time with [livejournal.com profile] greenygal, [livejournal.com profile] neotoma, and the other person I met last night (must see if I can find her lj name). I tried a new Thai dish that was lovely, and adored seeing The Adventures of Robin Hood on the big screen again. Olivia de Havilland is still with us at age 97, bless her. Loved the shiny satin dresses she wore. *snicker*

I still have fond memories from when I was, oh, about nineteen or twenty seeing The Adventures of Robin Hood with my brothers and some friends. Since we were Scadians at the time, we all dressed up in our best medievals for the event.

Alex and I infuriated Angus by cheering for the Normans.

Good times, good times.

There were two more Errol Flynn swashbucklers that night, too. Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk.

Afterwards, we all went out for a late night snack and coffee. One of guys had brought a date who wasn't terribly bright. At one point she asked who Errol Flynn was... up to that point apparently blissfully unaware that she'd just seen three movies he starred in.

Oh, and Olivia de Havilland? Totally rocks!
