Sick again
At least this time it's different. Sinus pain and a low-grade fever. I only got about four hours of sleep last night.
LATimes had an opinion piece on Why We Shouldn't try to go to Mars. My comment was:
This is our destiny. We don't know what we'll get out of it until we get there. Robert Heinlein pointed out that our discoveries during the moon expeditions weren't from the moon itself, but from the endeavor of getting there. We need the large dream to get the largest benefits from the human imagination.
ETA: People are objecting to a black guy (Samuel L. Jackson) playing Nick Fury because the original was white. It's Samuel MF Jackson!

I've always thought that space exploration was imperative. If just for the sense of adventure and discovery. There is so much scientific knowledge learned just from the planning stage. It would be counter-productive to give up the dream. And it's a combination of both scientific knowlege and human imagination that is fueled by the quest.
Um... I haven't had much sleep either, so I'm not entirely sure I'm making sense.
And Samuel MF Jackson can play whatever the F he wants. I mean, really! It's Samuel MF Jackson!
Take care of yourself!

Yes. Science needs goals to shape it and the imagination needs food for inspiration. Mars is a planet that supplies both.

As for going to Mars, it's in the human psyche to explore, whether it's on this planet or on others. We're far too inquisitive for our own good sometimes, but it's the only way we've managed to evolve. Surely there must be a way to find the funds and resources to save this planet and go to others.
Silly me. Where there's a political will, there's always a way.

Iron Man 2 should rock. Except for Gwyneth Paltrow *eyeroll* It's not that I haven't liked her in certain roles, but I feel like Pepper Pots should be strong and she just plays her too weakly.
