My father was an EMT for a number of years. He doesn't swear, so he has some forceful but *brief* things to say about doors, halls, and stairwells that can't accommodate a gurney.

All the same space-and-physics issues apply to moving furniture in and out, or moving in a wheelchair; so many things would be easier with wider halls and double main doors.
