Hollywood's Roman Catholicism with Bing Crosby?

Going My Way and The Bells of St Mary's were two movies with Bing Crosby as Father O'Malley. They were more Catholic-ish than Catholic, but they formed the ideas of many non-Catholics about the religion.

lord of the rings has the advantage of the Valar are known to exist, and people don't fight wars over that. otoh, the devil is manifest in the world, so that sucks...

That or the Bing Crosby Catholicism. The Jedi are a bit dull.
