The original Karate Kid has been cited for race failishness, involving, as it does, an older Japanese man coming to the rescue of the young white protagonist and using his mystical mojo to heal him. (That said, it also lampshaded some of its own racial tropes ("Ooooh. Where did you get your belt?" "J.C. Penny. $2.95"), especially those around the mystical asian sage not having a personality or a story or a sense of irreverant humor of his own and existing solely for the benefit of the protagonist.)

Recasting the entire movie with no white people at all is pretty damn radical. I will be eager to see it.
